He is also known as William de Blauminister. He was a great grandson of William de Warenne, earl of Surrey, and Isabella de Ver mandois.[zashin-1.ged]

He was seigneur of Fiennes and Tingry. In England he held Choke s and Gayton, Northamptonshire; and Wendover, Buckinghamshire . He was custodian of the county of Ponthieu. He and his broth er, Giles, joined the crusade in 1270-1272 under lord Edward. H e was summoned to serve against the Welsh in 1277 and 1282. H e spent many years beyond the seas, but was restored to his Engl ish lands during the truce of 1299, for which he acted as hostag e in the negotiations between England and France. He was summon ed against the Scots in 1300. He was slain at the battle of Cou rtrai.
